Frequently asked questions
From what age can my child join a swimming course?
Most water familiarisation courses start at age 3–4. Children typically earn the Seepferdchen badge at 5–6. Parent-child courses are available for younger children.
How much does a kids’ swimming course cost?
Prices vary widely: DLRG and club courses usually cost €50–110, private swim schools €120–240 per course. Public pools sit in between. Courses are cheaper on average in eastern Germany.
How does the waitlist alert work?
Pick a provider, enter your email address and confirm it. As soon as the provider reports open spots, you’ll be notified immediately – free and cancellable at any time.
Which badge should my child earn first?
The Seepferdchen is the first step – but note: it does not yet mean a child can swim safely. Only the Bronze badge (Freischwimmer) certifies that.
Is the availability data really up to date?
Providers update their spots themselves – every listing shows the timestamp of the last update. Verified providers update at least weekly.
